40 kilometres from France’s Le Mans 24 hour circuit Sarthe, close to
many chateaux, including a magnificent view from the accommodation of
the Cogners chateau, the family home of Hugot.
The many chateaux of the Loir valley reflect the history and
aristocratic style, from the middle ages through the renaissance and
many have luxurious gardens; visit the tree-lined maze at
Ponce-sur-Loir, the orangey at Grand Luce or Le Lude for a wide range of
attractions.
There is a world of wine waiting to be discovered here. The Loir valley
uses mainly Chinon and Pineau d' Aunis grapes to produce three AOC
wines, the Aoteaux du Vendomois, the Coteaux du Loir and Jasnieres.
